CBD COP17
The 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) is being held in Yerevan, Armenia, from 19–30 October 2026.
Ahead of the first Global Review of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, over 140 organizations have united to urge governments to strengthen ocean protection, backed by a new survey of 20,000 people across 20 countries showing widespread public support for urgent action.
Together for the Ocean and its partners will be at CBD COP17 calling on governments to turn the ambition of the Global Biodiversity Framework into effective action for the ocean.
30×30 policy priorities
30×30 is a global target to protect and conserve at least 30% of the world’s land, freshwater and ocean by 2030, adopted under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework in 2022.
30×30 is the most ambitious conservation commitment ever made, but the science is clear: it is our only opportunity to safeguard the ocean’s biodiversity and the communities that depend on it. Achieving 30×30 will also help preserve the ocean’s ability to act as our greatest ally against the climate crisis.
